Today's spat: Can we stop looking for more tour books at AAA offices?


Before leaving Oklahoma City, we drove downtown to visit the Memorial. The Murray Federal Building was destroyed by a bomber, and who remembers his message? Two walls face each other with a reflecting pool in-between. One wall is labeled 9:01, just a minute before the bomb went off. The other wall is labeled 9:03 when all was "changed". Glass and bronze chairs sit on a grassy slope which was once occupied by the building, each with the name of a victim. Some of the chairs are smaller in size to represent the children who died. This site must be beautiful at night when each chair is illuminated, as well as in the Spring and the Fall when the orchard to honor the rescuers is in full color. The misty rain dissipated as we left the city limits and by afternoon, the warm glow of the sun was at our backs. This made me think about our wondeful West Coast friends who have been sending us off on our journey with best wishes and love. Your encouragement has made leaving "home" easier and has given us the determination to look for more "quality" friendships.



Today's driving drip took us into the evening hours -- the last 35 the most demanding. We drove a long and winding road through a dark forest to reach Hot Springs, AK. We are staying at a beautiful hotel which looks out over Lake Hamilton and hope to discover its beauty when we awake.
