The Mighty Muddy Mississippi was crossed, Thursday, as we drove from Hot Springs, AK to Nashville, TN to visit w/ Shelby and her housemates. A home-cooked meal of delicious grilled steak and steamed veggies was much appreciated after days of restaurant food. Our one tourist stop in this long ride was the Casey Jones Train Museum since our grandchildren are very fond of trains. We picked up a little surprise for them and a very forgettable CD of folk songs about Casey, a train engineer famous for his untimely death. The long drive left us with little energy to do any touring in Nashville and we are beginning to talk more about finding our new residence. Soon, we will be making the Big Turn.
Friday was Cracker Barrel Day -- breakfast and dinner. You can eat breakfast all day, if you want. We also picked up an audiobook for the next leg of our trip which can be returned to any Cracker Barrel for a refund -- yay! We passed by many rivers, state parks, and dams as we finished out our trip across Tennessee, another pretty state. The Spring and Fall must be abundant with natural color. So far, we've been blessed with miles of dry pavement. We'll reveal The Turn on the next blog.
